The “Hurtwood Concert” is a showcase for vocal and instrumental and dance talent featuring 34 numbers in total and a cast of over 60.
Four 16:9 screens and a central circular screen provided a canvas for the video design and a visual backdrop to the set. A three camera mix provided the live feed from the stage and ran alongside three purpose built media servers running Arkaos DMX. A further firewire feed from a central camera provided live digital content for real time manipulation. Thanks to a very short throw distance, the chosen 5K Sanyo projectors packed a convincingly solid punch. The content for the show was loaded into the Arkaos servers and the whole lot programmed and triggered by the MQ100 lighting desk .
Over 150 hours were spent preparing, sourcing and designing content using a narrative style to blend popular culture with archived film footage. All other original content was created in Flash, After Effects, Live Text and Motion Graphics.
The video design embraced many challenges from creating bespoke video identities for each number to providing an array of video gobos and wallpapers. The biggest challenge as always was to achieve a visually stunning show without detracting from the very real talent being showcased on stage.”
